The Universal Championship triple-threat match is scheduled for the main event slot of WrestleMania 37, as it features three of the WWE’s biggest stars in Roman Reigns, Edge, and Daniel Bryan.
This contest is the headline bout for Night 2 of WM 37, which takes place on Sunday night, April 11th, live on Peacock.
Let’s take a closer look a closer look at this triple threat contest, the betting odds at WWE betting sites, and make a championship winning prediction.

WrestleMania 37 Betting Odds
The following odds are courtesy of BetOnline:
- Edge (+115)
- (c) Roman Reigns (+150)
- Daniel Bryan (+200)
On the surface, all three men have a nice return on investment with no large betting favorite despite Roman Reigns’ being the main guy for the WWE right now.
How Did We Get Here?
Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns have been in a feud since late last year when Bryan helped out Kevin Owens on a few occasions as he was getting double teamed by Reigns and Jey Uso.
Eventually, Bryan and Reigns would end up in a rivalry. Their first title clash happened at the Elimination Chamber when Reigns fought Bryan immediately after Daniel had won the grueling chamber match. Roman would easily win this contest.
After the chamber match was over, Edge speared Reigns and made his intentions clear that he chose Roman for a match at WM 37.
Edge won the 2021 men’s Royal Rumble match and earned the right to choose which title he would compete for. After a few weeks of teasing the champs of NXT, RAW, and SmackDown, Edge finally picked Reigns.
Fastlane Changes the Landscape
As Edge and Reigns were on a collision course for a title match at Mania, Daniel Bryan continued to pursue a rematch against Reigns. Bryan mocked him for how he won at the Elimination Chamber PPV.
Eventually, Bryan would get that rematch at WWE Fastlane last month. He would also get Edge as a special enforcer for this match as Edge beat Uso for this role on SmackDown prior to the Fastlane event.
The title bout at Fastlane was a solid match between Bryan and Reigns. At one point, Bryan had Reigns tapping out to his submission hold (the Yes Lock), but the referee was unconscious.
In a recent interview on ESPN, Reigns hilariously argued that he didn’t tap out but was actually communicating with Paul Heyman via Morse code:
“I told Paul [Heyman], I was doing morse code to Paul. [Bryan] had my mouth covered. [Heyman and I] are so in tune with the history and everything, I was morse coding and telling him to fire up the jet. I was like, ‘Tell Charlie to turn the bus, slide in, we’re going to the FBO.’ That wasn’t a tap.”
With the ref out cold, Edge would end up attacking both men with a steel chair. That cost Bryan the title, as Reigns would eventually get the pin as a result of Edge’s attack.
“The Rated R Superstar” Is Back
On the March 26th episode of SmackDown, it was made official that the Reigns vs. Edge WM 37 Universal Championship contest would now become a triple-threat match.
This didn’t sit well with Edge who went on to attack both men with a chair and Jey Uso as well. Edge would eventually announce that “the Rated R Superstar was back.” This triumphant declaration signaled that Edge was a heel again. That’s exciting for longtime fans of Edge because he was one of the WWE’s top heels during his era.
On the April 2nd episode of SmackDown, Edge would make the following comments about why he did what he did the week prior:
“What happened at Fastlane, what happened last week at SmackDown, the mayhem the destruction, it didn’t need to happen. But maybe it did. May this was all inevitable. Maybe I was naive that I could travel the road to WrestleMania without any speedbumps or maybe, more fittingly, any roadkill because that’s what Daniel Bryan is after weaseling into my match at WrestleMania.”
Who Will Win the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37?
I firmly believe that Daniel Bryan was put into this match in order to take the loss and to protect both Reigns and Edge. Furthermore, Bryan getting pinned allows the WWE to continue a feud between Edge and Reigns. That way, both men can claim that they didn’t get pinned and deserve a title shot.
As for the winner of this bout, I am going with Edge. The top online betting sites have been shifting towards Edge as the favorite, but there are other reasons why I see him winning at WrestleMania 37. WM 37 will be 10 years since Edge last held a world title for the WWE. He was the world heavyweight champ and successfully defended the title against Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania 27.
Sadly, the next night on RAW, Edge announced that he was retiring due to a serious neck injury. It was a shocking announcement that many fans didn’t think was real at the time. Edge was out of action until his return last year at the 2020 Royal Rumble.
Edge winning at WM 37 would be an emotional moment for the WWE, for Edge, and the WWE Universe. It would also be a signature “WrestleMania moment” that the WWE always hypes up.
I can see Edge closing out the show holding the title up as the fans cheer, fireworks go off, and the SmackDown announcers screaming about his victory. Take Edge and his +110 odds to win the Universal Championship in the main event of WM 37.
