When to Expect British Land-Based Gambling Sector to Reopen?

The United Kingdom presented the plan of ending the lockdown. Brick-and-mortar gambling establishments, including betting shops and casinos, finally received the oriented dates when to expect the end of total closure. The three-stage plan was presented by the British governors yesterday. Officials want to start bringing back normal life from the 8th of March. However, this date won’t help the entertaining sector, including the gambling one. Only five weeks later, with a possible launch of the second stage, betting shops can expect the first visitors, which is no earlier than on the 12th of April.

However, the second stage won’t be the final lap for the whole gambling sector. Thus, casinos will be able to host clients not earlier than on the 17th of May. Such a variant is rather harmful to both industry and the UK’s treasure as the land-based sector has been closed from 2021.

May those terms be changed?

At the recent stage, the only changes can be a postponing of the reopening schedule. Having five weeks minimum between the stages isn’t the final deal as the governors will make the final decisions after analyzing the situation with coronavirus spreading.

At the same time, the Betting and Gaming Council is actively pushing the ease of lockdown measures for the gambling sector. The organization’s representatives insist that betting shops and casinos are the places with best-possible health protection measures to be applied in all the retail, so this industry needs immediate easing.
