UKGC Opens Consultation on Gambling Licenses and Enforcement

The Gambling Commission of the UK plans to overview its policies that concern gambling licenses, compliance, and enforcement, or the Policy. As the news about the legal side of the British gambling industry informs, the Commission has launched a consultation on the matter, seeking feedback on the latest amendments to the Policy. 

The Policies are based on the GC’s Statement of Principles. The document sets guidelines for the risk assessment, licensing of the gambling ops, compliance activities, and enforcement of regulatory measures.

The principles were updated in 2017 for the last time with the main changes concerning the following factors:

products requiring dual regulation;
requirements for operating and personal licenses;
special measures approach;
review and suspension of gambling licenses.

The UKGC consultation will run until February 9, 2022, and aims to gather opinions of the gambling ops and other stakeholders in the sector.
