Svenska Spel, Sweden’s gambling company owned by the government, has published a new interim report, showing its financial results for the second quarter of the year.

According to the latest financial news from the operator, 2021’s Q2 was a profitable period for the company, thanks to the casino and sports betting verticals.

Svenska Spel reports “financially strong quarter”

Svenska Spel stated that, although land-based gambling venues had been closed for a long time, the opportunity to reopen three casinos at the beginning of July had paid off. The state-owned operator reports that the sector of sports betting as well as the casino vertical have brought much profit.

Svenska Spel’s NGR for the second quarter has increased by eighteen percent (YOY) and is SEK 1 938 million. The company’s operating profit is SEK 574 million, which is an increment of twenty-one percent. The operator confirmed that the iGaming vertical had been developing more successfully. It increased by thirty-five percent in comparison to the same period of 2020. As was mentioned above, the sports betting sector and casino services showed strong performance as their NGR increased by 106%.

Svenska Spel’s CEO has commented on the results, saying that the operator is focused on the improvement of customer experience, first of all. He has also added that such an upward trend in the revenue is based specifically on the ultimate satisfaction among customers due to a safe gambling environment and high-quality gaming solutions.
