News UK’s Managing Director of Betting and Gaming, Simon Collins, is set to vacate his position, with the intention of returning to the start up sector.

Collins has over 25 years experience in the iGaming industry, having overseen the development of a number of brands across a range of verticals.

He co-founded and served as Managing Director of Cashcade – the owner of Foxy Bingo – over 20 years ago, and co-founded gaming supplier Gaming Realms in 2018.

Cashcade was sold to Party Gaming for £90 million, whilst Collins remained at, focusing on innovation, research and development as well as managing the social side of Cashcade’s brands. He maintained this position until April 2011.

In November 2019 he joined News UK as Managing Director for the outlet’s betting and gaming department.

His main responsibility in this position was management of a range of brands including Sun Bingo, Sun Win, Sun Play and Sun Racing as well as the paper’s Dream Team fantasy football product.

Dream Team has more than one million players, making it the country’s most widely played fantasy football game.

Collins remarked: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at News UK. It’s been a pleasure to work with such a talented team to develop some of the most popular gaming products in the UK environment – from Dream Team to Sun Bingo.

“That said, my roots – and my heart – lay in the start up space, and the lure of the new opportunities there was just too strong.”

The outgoing MD’s responsibilities will be fulfilled by Jo Bucci, General Manager of The Sun, including the task of managing the Dream Team.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for his hard work and entrepreneurialism over the last year,” added Scott Taunton, CEO of Wireless.

“Simon has led the Betting & Gaming team during an important phase, focusing on new product development alongside driving strong revenues in this space.”
