By | September 10, 2021

As pandemic-related restrictions are lifted across Europe, live poker tournaments are coming back to the global scene as well.

The recent poker news reports that the annual International Poker Open (IPO) championship will return to the live arena of Dublin this October.

If the restrictions are not lifted IPO 2021 will go online

As the Irish authorities are planning to terminate all COVID-19 restrictions by October 22, the IPO will take place at Bonnington Hotel in Dublin. The organizers of the poker championship sponsored by Unibet are also hoping that the government will allow hosting limited capacity events indoors, so the IPO’s qualifiers can also be held live on October 20-21. However, if the Irish state decides not to ease up the restrictions or postpone the lift, the IPO 2021 will kick off online.

Our gambling online magazine reports that to visit the venue players must adhere to the following rules and receive a green wristband:

provide a vaccination proof or a negative test taken within 48 hours;
a temperature check;
sanitize their hands when they sit at the table or enter the poker room.

All the rules listed above also apply to the staff of the hotel. No decision has been made yet concerning face masks.

As for the players who tested positive for COVID before the event, they can either leave their stack or get a refund, the size of which depends on the amount of chips they have.
