By | August 5, 2021

The recent casino news in Germany reports that the nationwide self-exclusion system, OASIS, was successfully launched in the state this Monday, on August 2.

Prior to the launch, the OASIS self-exclusion online casino software was tested in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse regions.

The system covers all types of games of chance, except the lottery. Problem players can request a gambling ban personally or via a third party. The player’s identity must be checked against the OASIS system upon entering the casino or betting venue or registering at an online gambling website.

More than 3 000 operators applied to join the OASIS system

Under the Treaty on Gambling, all casino operators with German licenses must sign up to the centralized self-exclusion system by applying to the Darmstadt Regional Council. The applications can be submitted via an IT system, developed specifically for the cause.

According to recent casino articles, the Council has already received over 3 000 requests from the gambling companies and successfully sent out first user contracts on Tuesday.

Vice President Dr. Stefan Fuhrmann commented on the launch, stating that the casino websites can be connected to the OASIS system without any delay, thus, improving player protection in the country.
