At the moment, there’s a restriction on three gambling advertisements per block on the Internet. NOGA doesn’t think it’s enough to protect impressionable and minors from problem gambling. And the main issue is the fact that operators are able to advertise offline offers.
Obviously, operators see the opportunity to share their products on the platforms, where people see too much content, especially gambling content of any kind, according to NOGA. Even the TikTok ads policy allows gambling operators to advertise products.
Since June 2019, NOGA has been actively calling on social media platforms, online and land-based operators, and gambling providers to set the code of gambling ads quantity in the Netherlands.
