On Friday 11, 2022, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission revealed a report that indicated significant growth in sports betting handles for January 2022. The report shows that the sports betting handle in the region was doubled in the first month of the year and consisted of $303,327,688 in total. Following the latest financial news, this amount has a 102.9% growth compared to the data of 2021 ($149.5 million in total).
Most of the wagered money came from mobile sports betting, where the bettors wagered $275.9 million. On the other side, retail had a less promising result of $27.5 million with a down of 4.5% compared to January 2021.
Most of the stakes (mobile betting) were made on Caesars, where bettors wagered $112.7 million using its mobile sports betting application. DraftKings reported $68.9 million in mobile stakes, while FanDuel showed a financial result of $44.1 million.
Talking about retail, the best results were reported by the following betting platforms:
FanDuel – $8.7 million;
Penn National’s Ameristar II – $5.4 million;
Caesars Sportsbook – $3.9.
Summarizing all the financial data, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission reported total revenue of $14,269,557 with a players’ win rate of 4.7% for January 2022. And all sports betting operators paid $964,525 in taxes for the same month.
