According to the latest betting news from Great Britain, the BGC, the body responsible for the gambling sector in the country, asks the government to approach all industries equally.
The UK government is going to create a program for dealing with the lockdown consequences, which will be announced on February 22. It touches on the permission for many businesses to reopen.
The industry association insists on the equal terms
The BGC asks the government to have the same attitude toward the betting industry as to other verticals. The association and its members also contributed to the fight against the pandemic. For example, some of the gambling establishments were offered to health care workers as venues for tests and vaccination. Moreover, the gambling industry generated £3.2 billion of taxes for the UK’s state coffers.
That is why the BGC demands fair approach to the betting industry as it consists of 32 500 employees, who can help to uplift the economy contributing approximately £2.8 billion to it. If to consider the profit from the bookmaking industry by sectors, for instance, betting gives more than £350 million annually to horse racing. This fact emphasizes the importance of the sportsbook market and the operation of betting shops, which provide financing to key verticals.
