As the news in the Finnish casino sector reports, the player authentication is now in place for 80% of Veikkaus’s games. The gambling monopoly plans to increase the identification rate to 100% by the end of 2023.

Such a high coverage rate allows Veikkaus to gather more information about the gambling behavior of players and significantly improve customer protection. Lauri Halkola, head of Data and Analytics at Veikkaus, states that the company aims to reduce the share of problem gambling among its players by preventing the harm in advance.

The data gathered from the player identification shows that half of the money wagered on Veikkaus’s casino site and land-based venues was spent by just 7% of users. While this is a high rate and indicates problem gambling behavior, 50% of gambling losses were attributed to 2.5% of gamblers in Finland overall. These figures clearly show that Veikkaus is headed in the right direction in terms of responsible gambling.
