2 500 Women Suffer from Problem Gambling – GambleAware Research

GambleAware has stated the significant increase of problem gambling among women for the latest five years. The organization’s officials are sure that this problem was caused by the pressure of everyday life on females. Check the latest global news on the GBC Time website.

The GambleAware research demonstrates the number of women, who suffer from gambling addiction. The first researched period is from 2015 to 2016 (1 100 increase), and the second one is from 2020 to 2021 (2 500 increase).

Zoe Osmond, the chief executive of GambleAware, has stated that the foundation for this report is the organization’s support work for female gamblers in 2019-2020. She also noted that this audience is more into bingo, online gambling, and scratchcards games.

“Women’s motivations for gambling are to escape the pressure of everyday life. It’s a form of escapism” – she said. Osmond also noted the global pandemic influence. “COVID-19 means more time at home and more time online”.
