Happy New Year! Yesterday was a winning day with our NBA props as Joel Embiid was a beast in Philly’s win over Brooklyn and Franz Wagner continued to prove he can be a reliable scorer in the league even if the Magic are not a winning team at the moment.
Today we have a full slate of action with 10 games. Two are in the afternoon though so we will focus on those late enough in the day that you have the time to get your action in.
Here’s a handful of NBA props to consider for tonight’s action. Let’s end the year on a winning note and with a little more money in the bank.
Top NBA Props for Friday, December 31
The NBA props listed below are from BetMGM.
NBA Prop Pick #1: Derrick White Over 18.5 Points (-105)
Dejounte Murray is out again for this game. He has gathered a lot of the headlines for San Antonio this season for his versatile play, but White is very capable of using some extra possessions in his absence.
White has scored 21+ points in three of the Spurs’ last six games and tonight’s game against Memphis is likely to be played at a brisk pace, helping all scorers. I was going to suggest taking the 20+ points wager but we are already getting excellent value with this one.
NBA Prop Pick #2: Jakob Poeltl Over 8.5 Rebounds (+110)
Poeltl might see an uptick in points tonight too, but I like the payoff on his rebounds even better. In their last game, he tangled with Rudy Gobert and still grabbed 13 boards.
Tonight, he will face the smaller but more rugged Steven Adams. That is a matchup where he can have some advantages on the offensive and defensive glass. Similar to the scoring the pace of this game will create lots of opportunities for rebounders.
NBA Prop Pick #3: De’Aaron Fox Over 19.5 Points (-110)
Fox let us down earlier in the week when he followed up a low-scoring game with another. These teams just played in Sacramento the other night, and it was a low-scoring contest overall with neither team reaching 100 points. That is very rare for Sacramento, a team near the bottom in defense.
Don’t expect a repeat of that game in terms of style. On New Year’s Eve, a gritty performance seems very unlikely. Look for Fox to get back to his norm of scoring in the 20s whether Sacramento wins or not.
NBA Prop Pick #4: Harrison Barnes Over 14.5 Points (-105)
In Sacramento’s most recent game against the Mavs, Barnes scored exactly 14 points. His average for the season is 17 points per game and with the expectation of a more free-flowing game tonight I think taking the over on the veteran makes sense.
His minutes have been very stable of late, as he has played 30+ in eight straight games. In that run of games, he has been over this number five times. The odds are in our favor.
NBA Prop Pick #5 Christian Wood Over 19.5 Points (-105)
It is still tough to figure out just what Wood is and what Houston wants him to be as they develop. He is not really a #1 scoring option but that is the role he plays for the Rockets, and I like him to post good numbers tonight.
The Heat are very good defensively as a team but inside they are not especially stout due to injuries and absences. Wood is on a bit of a heater too with 20+ points in six of his last eight games. Let’s bank on him cooling off…in 2022, not tonight.
