Super Bowl 56 Odds: Packers, Chiefs Enter NFL Playoffs as Super Bowl Favorites

By | January 10, 2022

After a wild Week 18, the NFL playoff field is set. Next weekend, the last 14 teams standing will embark on the road to Super Bowl 56.

In our most recent Super Bowl odds update, the Indianapolis Colts had the eighth-best odds to win the Super Bowl. At the time, they had better odds than the rival Tennessee Titans, who were a game ahead in the AFC South.

Fast forward to today, and the Colts–unbelievably, inexplicably, astoundingly, shockingly, all of the above and then some–are not even in the playoff field.

And the Titans? The Titans are the top seed in the AFC and have the fifth-best odds to win Super Bowl 56. And with Derrick Henry set to be in action in two weeks when the Titans begin their title pursuit in the divisional round, things are looking rather rosy in Nashville at the moment.

As with the Colts, things looked positive for the Chargers heading into the final weeks of the season than they did for the Raiders or Steelers. But as the Colts did, the Chargers threw it away down the stretch, losing three of their last four games. Those two collapses opened the door for the Raiders and Steelers to slide into the field in a hectic, memorable Sunday.

What a difference even a couple of weeks can make, huh?

But enough about the teams who won’t be in contention for a Super Bowl title. How about the teams who will be?

Packers, Chiefs Enter Playoffs as Super Bowl 56 Favorites

The Green Bay Packers may have ended the regular season with a loss to the Detroit Lions, but after wrapping up the #1 seed in the NFC the previous week, the result was meaningless.

Along with the Titans, presumptive NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and the Packers can enjoy a week off and look ahead to the divisional round in two weeks.

After finishing 13-4 in the regular season and winning the NFC North for the third time in three seasons under coach Matt LaFleur, the Packers are the top seed in the NFC for the second straight year. After consecutive losses in the NFC Championship Game, will the third time be the charm for the Pack?

Green Bay tops the latest Super Bowl 56 odds, while Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs follow behind. A Week 16 loss to the Bengals dropped the Chiefs from the top spot in the AFC, but Kansas City will enter Saturday’s wild-card game against the Steelers with nine wins in their past ten games.

Defending Champion Bucs to Open Repeat Run Against Eagles

Last year, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stunned the Chiefs to win Super Bowl 55 and make history as the first team to win the Super Bowl in their home stadium.

En route to making history at home, the Bucs won three straight playoff games on the road, defeating Washington, New Orleans, and Green Bay.

This time around, the Bucs will have to play only one road game at most in order to reach the Super Bowl. A Week 15 loss at home against the Saints ended up costing the Bucs the top seed in the NFC, as the Packers edged out the Bucs by virtue of a better win percentage in conference games.

But thanks to the Los Angeles Rams’ season-ending loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Bucs earned the #2 seed in the NFC and still have a favorable road to SoFi Stadium. After all, they won the NFC Championship Game in Green Bay last year, so having to return there will not faze the champs.

Leading sportsbooks have differing opinions on the Bucs with regards to their Super Bowl odds. At Caesars Sportsbook, the Bucs slot in fourth behind the Packers, Chiefs, and Buffalo Bills and ahead of the Titans. But at BetMGM, the Bucs come in fifth behind the Packers, Chiefs, Bills, and Titans.

There isn’t much of a gap between the Bills, Bucs, and Titans at either book, but those small differences are notable due to the importance that finding the best value holds for many bettors.
