Thursday Full Card Analysis
Belmont Park Race 1
Post: 3:05 PM ET; Purse: $75,000 Maiden Special Weight, 6 1/2 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 6
- #6 LET HER INSPIRE U (7-5) has a great shot in the race given the speed & pedigree. The horse is out of the Into Mischief line which has been one of the top producers of runners in the country in recent years.
- #1 WICKED LADY (9-5) merits consideration in this spot given edges in stamina & record at the distance.
- #2 TRUANCY (6-1) is a horse that could be primed to win on debut. The question marks are compensate with a decent price.
- #5 BOSS OF ALL (12-1) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts.
Selections: 6-1-2-5
Belmont Park Race 2
Post: 3:38 PM ET; Purse: $45,000 Claiming, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 6
- #5 BOLD VICTORY (6-1) is a major player in today’s race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & form.
- #1 TOP OF THE MINT (7-2) has a great shot in the race given the early pace this one projects to show early in the race.
- #3 EAGLE IN LOVE (4-1) has to be respected based on the connections.
- #4 EMPEROR’S CAUSE (5-1) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts.
Selections: 5-1-3-4
Belmont Park Race 3
Post: 4:09 PM ET; Purse: $45,000 Claiming, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 7
- #2 DANGEROUS EDGE (4-1) has a great shot in the race given the top connections & class.
- #5 HOLDTHEFLIGHT (7-2) should be competitive today based on the horse’s speed & power rating.
- #1 JUMPSTER (3-1) comes from the Gary Sciacca barn and will get Joel Rosario in the saddle. Those connections are always worth a look at this level.
- #6 FOREVER WICKED (12-1) likes to come from out of it, but there appears to be enough pace on for this one to conceivably get up and hit the board.
Selections: 2-5-1-6
Belmont Park Race 4
Post: 4:40 PM ET; Purse: $45,000 Maiden Claiming, 1 1/16 Miles on Turf; Entries: 15
- #4 JUST A NYQUIST (3-1) is in with a great chance based on the horse’s stamina & breeding. Although early in the stud career, Nyquist throws some really good horses.
- #6 IN MY WAKE (6-1) comes into the race signaling a big performance in the near future.
- #11 OAK LOVES A FIGHT (6-1) merits consideration in this spot given edges in speed & pace.
- #5 QUIET TYPE (9-2) is an over-jocked horse. This angle isn’t one I use for singles, but often for savers. Luis Saez who is one of the top riders on the circuit goes out for a lower percentage trainer. Maybe that’s a signal this one is live.
Selections: 4-6-11-5
Belmont Park Race 5
Post: 5:13 PM ET; Purse: $92,000 Allowance, 7 Furlongs on Turf; Entries: 10
- #8 MICROPHONE (5-2) looks tough to beat here given the edge in a number of key categories including speed & power rating.
- #1 BAY STREET MONEY (5-1) comes into the race signaling a big performance in the near future.
- #2 DANCING BUCK (7-2) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts.
- #5 SHIRAZ (10-1) is worth a look here given edges in class & early pace. Bet against Maker on the turf at your own peril.
Selections: 8-1-2-5
Belmont Park Race 6
Post: 5:43 PM ET; Purse: $85,000 Allowance Optional Claiming, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 8
- #1A AMUNDSON (9-2) is the preferred part of the entry. He should be competitive today based on the his speed & early foot.
- #5 MASKED MARAUDER (7-2) should be competitive today based on the horse’s speed & form.
- #6 JEMOGRAPHY (12-1) gets Dylan Davis in the saddle. He is one of the more underrated jockeys in the star-studded New York colony.
- #3 SAINT SELBY (2-1) is in with a great chance based on the horse’s race flow & power rating.
Selections: 1A-5-6-3
Belmont Park Race 7
Post: 6:15 PM ET; Purse: $60,000 Starter Handicap, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 10
- #1A TIERGAN (9-2) is another entry in which I much prefer one half. This one should be competitive today based on the horse’s speed & pace.
- #6 NO SALT (8-1) is worth a look here given edges in class & form.
- #7 REGAL QUALITY (10-1) merits consideration in this spot given edges in stamina & record at the distance.
- #1 HAMMERIN AAMER (9-2) is the other part of the entry and has proven to be a good bet to at least hit the board under today’s distance and surface conditions.
Selections: 1A-6-7-1
Belmont Park Race 8
Post: 6:45 PM ET; Purse: $92,000 Allowance Optional Claiming, 1 1/16 Miles on Turf; Entries: 10
- #9 SPICER (5-1) is worth a look here given edges in connections & race flow.
- #1 DIAMOND HANDS (5-2) comes from Christophe Clement’s barn and gets one of the top turf riders in the country in Joel Rosario.
- #10 SPIRIT AND GLORY (15-1) isn’t the likeliest winner, but 15-1 seems a bit steep for a horse that has more room to progress than these.
- #4 CAIRONI (8-1) merits consideration in this spot given edges in speed & class.
Selections: 9-1-10-4
Belmont Park Race 9
Post: 7:15 PM ET; Purse: $41,000 Claiming, 7 Furlongs on Turf; Entries: 12
- #9 JUULSTONE (7-2) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts.
- #7 SUPPLY CHAIN (5-2) is worth a look here given edges in connections & power rating.
- #8 CABLE CHANNEL (9-2) is a major player in today’s race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & early pace.
- #10 SCOTTO (15-1) is worth a look here given edges in record at the distance & form.
Selections: 9-7-8-10
