2022 World Series Futures Odds, Favorites & Predictions

By | May 12, 2022

On November 3 last year, the Atlanta Braves became the envy of 29 other MLB franchises and broke a 26-year wait for a World Series title, as they shut out the Houston Astros in Game 6 to close out the 2021 World Series.

The player who was on the receiving end of the final throw and final out of the 2021 MLB season will be looking to help a new team dethrone his old team, as Freddie Freeman joined up with the Los Angeles Dodgers after spending his entire professional career with the Braves organization.

After breaking their own title drought in 2020, the Dodgers were favored to repeat last season, but they came up short, falling to Freeman and the Braves in the NLCS. As the new MLB season opens, the Dodgers, with their new first baseman in tow, once again sit atop the 2022 World Series betting odds.

2022 World Series Favorites and Predictions (As of Wednesday, May 11)

Top 2022 World Series Favorites

Los Angeles Dodgers

After losing out to the eventual World Series champion Braves in the NLCS last season, the Dodgers look primed for a return to the Fall Classic this season. Their offense isn’t firing on all cylinders yet, though new addition Freddie Freeman is off to a solid start.

Their early excellence has been driven by their pitching staff, which includes a rejuvenated Clayton Kershaw. If the bats catch up and start performing to their potential, which they should eventually, this is the team most likely to get the trophy, the bubbly, and the parade come November.

New York Mets

The Mets have already built a healthy lead atop the NL East, and they have yet to get a single inning from two-time NL Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom, who won’t return until June at the earliest.

Their rotation is doing more than fine without him, with the emergence of Tylor Megill an added bonus with veterans Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, and Carlos Carrasco all pitching well. But adding arguably the best pitcher in the game will only strengthen their championship credentials.

New York Yankees

22 years ago, we had a Subway Series matchup in the Fall Classic. Could we have one this season? After a so-so start, the Yankees have been on fire and have pulled out ahead of the Blue Jays and Rays in the AL East.

Of course, the Yankees have high expectations, high talent, and a high payroll every year, and they are without a World Series title or an AL pennant since 2009. They have the goods to be the last team standing, but as is the case with the Mets, any confidence and excitement comes with a “but…” attached to it.

Toronto Blue Jays

After entering the season with (justifiably) sky-high expectations and starting 15-8, the Blue Jays have hit a bad patch in May. Their vaunted lineup, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr., is underperforming at the moment, and the same can be said for three-fifths of their starting rotation.

There’s a little more margin for error this season with the expanded MLB playoffs, and how you get in is not as important as getting in period. But the sooner things start clicking at the expected level, the better.

Of the leading World Series favorites, the Jays might have the highest future ceiling, but they also carry the most unknowns in the present.
