By | May 23, 2022

Justin Thomas had a weekend to remember when he captured the PGA Championship for the second time in his career. There won’t be too much time for him to bask in his glory because the next major tournament — the 2022 U.S. Open — is quickly approaching in just over three weeks.

This year’s festivities will last from Thursday, June 16 until Sunday, June 19 as the U.S. Open returns to the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts for the first time since 1988.

Jon Rahm captured last year’s title when he beat out Louis Oosthuizen by a single stroke at Torrey Pines. It was the first and only major title that the 27-year-old has captured, leaving many fans wondering if he can pull off a similar performance next month.

Although it’s anyone’s guess as to who will walk away the winner, the latest 2022 U.S. Open odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook and BetRivers help paint a clearer picture as to what could go down in Brookline.

If gambling is legal in your state or area, you can’t go wrong with following the odds from those three sportsbooks, especially if you’re looking to add some fun to the upcoming tournament.

Who Are the Favorites to Win the U.S. Open in 2022?

Jon Rahm (Best Value 2022 U.S. Open Odds: +1200 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

It shouldn’t be a surprise to see Jon Rahm atop the odds on our highlight sportsbook. After all, it’s never smart to count out a former champion at any given major tournament.

Including Rahm’s 2021 U.S. Open victory, the 27-year-old has seen four top-25 placements in his six appearances at the tournament. Aside from his win, his next best performance came when he placed T-3 in 2019.

The 2021 U.S. Open marked the first major victory in Jon Rahm’s career.

When it comes to the 2022 PGA TOUR, Rahm’s performances have been hit-or-miss. Although he’s made the cut in 11 of his 12 events played, he’s placed T-27 or worse in three of his last five outings, including finishing T-48 at the PGA Championship.

Nevertheless, Rahm also has a pair of top-10 finishes since the end of March and won the Mexico Open at Vidanta back on May 1. Combining that with his recent U.S. Open history and it’s hard not liking Rahm to win the event in back-to-back years.

Justin Thomas (Best Value 2022 U.S. Open Odds: +1400 at Caesars Sportsbook)

Another golfer worth keeping an eye on in Brookline is none other than 2022 PGA Championship winner, Justin Thomas.

Thomas’ victory over the weekend was a result of the momentum he’s been building this season. The Louisville, KY native has finished inside of the top 10 in 61.5% of the events he’s competed in, placing fifth or better on five separate occasions — including in back-to-back outings.

Although he’s yet to win the U.S. Open, Thomas has played well at the event recently, placing T-25 or better in four of his last five appearances. He also placed T-9 and T-8 in 2017 and 2020, respectively, showing that he has what it takes for a deep run.

Significant victories can change a man for the better. Only time will tell if Thomas’ PGA Championship win is enough to propel him to his first-ever U.S. Open title.

Rory McIlroy (Best Value 2022 U.S. Open Odds: +1400 at Caesars Sportsbook)

Rory McIlroy is another entrant who’s close to being a 2022 U.S. Open favorite across the board. The 33-year-old Northern Irishman is one of the many former champions who’ll be in attendance next month.

McIlroy captured his first-ever U.S. Open championship back in 2011, beating out Jason Day by eight strokes. While he’s yet to win the tournament again, he’s seen four top-10 finishes since then, including one each of the last three years.

Furthermore, McIlroy has been excellent on the 2022 PGA TOUR over the last month or so. He’s finished in the top 10 in each of his last three outings, which include second- and eighth-place finishes at the Masters Tournament and PGA Championship, respectively.

McIlroy’s recent resurgence has given fans a lot to be excited about. Assuming he can keep the momentum going for another few weeks, he’ll definitely be a name to watch at the 2022 U.S. Open.
