The 2022 NCAA college football season just a few weeks away, leaving fans across the United States more excited than ever for the upcoming campaign. . One way that people have been keeping busy is by predicting the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner.

Last year’s trophy was won by Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young. The 20-year-old completed 366 passes for 4,872 passing yards and 47 touchdowns to seven interceptions in his first season as a starter and played a crucial role in his school capturing the SEC Championship.

Young is back for another season at Alabama and will do everything in his power to take home another Heisman Trophy. Fortunately, FanDuel Sportsbook’s latest betting odds help give us an idea if that’s a realistic possibility.

2022 Heisman Trophy Favorites

C.J. Stroud, Ohio State (+200)

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise to see C.J. Stroud at the top of the 2022 Heisman Trophy odds list considering how he’s one of the favorites to be selected No. 1 at the 2023 NFL Draft.

Stroud is a special talent who looked extremely solid during his first full season at Ohio State last fall. He completed 71.9% of passes over 12 starts, finishing with 4,435 passing yards and 44 TDs to six interceptions.

Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud is the early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

The Buckeyes QB won several individual awards and even helped bring Ohio State to the Rose Bowl. He finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting, giving him the incentive to try and win it all this fall.

Ohio State consistently fields one of the best teams in the nation and that shouldn’t be any different in 2022. Stroud will have an incredibly solid offensive line ahead of him, along with wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba and running back TreVeyon Henderson at his disposal.

As long as everything goes to plan, Stroud should be in the 2022 Heisman Trophy race until the end.

Bryce Young, Alabama (+400)

After Young was last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, people shouldn’t be shocked to see him in the running to do it again in 2022.

It’ll be a tough task, though. Former Ohio State RB Archie Griffin is the only player in NCAAF history to have won multiple Heisman Trophies, having done so in 1974 and 1975. Nevertheless, Young has the talent to pull it off.

Young finished with at least 300 passing yards in 10 of his 15 starts last fall. He also toppled 400 yards on two occasions, which included a 559-yard, five-touchdown performance against Arkansas in Week 11.

Considering how that was Young’s first season as a full-time starter, it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to take another step forward. He’s only 20 years old and we likely haven’t seen his best football just yet.

The Crimson Tide are one of the National Championship favorites once again and they’ll need Young to play like a 2022 Heisman Trophy candidate if they want to turn that dream into a reality.

2022 Heisman Trophy Dark Horse Pick

Hendon Hooker, Tennessee (+6000)

Although it’s always tempting to go with one of the favorites to win an award, sometimes it’s more exciting to chase value with a dark horse pick.

When it comes to the 2022 Heisman Trophy Race, Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker is one player that could surprise a lot of fans and experts alike.

Hooker transferred to Tennessee last fall after three uninspiring seasons at Virginia Tech. He didn’t look out of place in his first Volunteers campaign, finishing with 206 completions, 2,945 passing yards and 31 TDs to three interceptions in 13 starts.

Although Hooker’s passing numbers aren’t eye-popping, he’s also known for doing some damage on the ground. He saw 116 careers in 2021, finishing with 620 rushing yards (3.7 yards per career) and five touchdowns.

Assuming that Hooker’s progression continues, he should be even more productive than he was last year. Add in the fact that he’s been able to achieve this on a Tennessee roster that is far from being the most talented and it’s easy to see why he could be a surprise Heisman Trophy pick in 2022.
